How do I know if a keyword is too competitive for my app?
Check its difficulty score against your app's current strength: difficulty above roughly 55-65 for an established app, or above 40 for a new one with little rating history, generally means the apps holding those top spots are too entrenched to displace soon.
Difficulty is calculated from the actual apps currently ranking for the term — their rating count, rating average, and update history — so it's a direct read on entrenchment, not a guess based on how popular or generic the term sounds.
A term can sound competitive and score low, or sound niche and score high, depending on who's actually ranking for it right now. That's why scoring beats guessing from the term's surface familiarity.
